Janet Norburn
Local Lay Pastor for Upper Wreake
Janet is the Local Lay Pastor for the Upper Wreake Methodist Churches at Frisby-on-the-Wreake and Hoby. She also works ecumenically with the Parish Churches of the Upper Wreake’s 6 villages.
Janet worked as a Primary School teacher for 38 years, her last post was as a senior teacher at a school in inner city Leicester. Since “retirement” she has been involved in a monthly Hot Potato Lunch, a monthly Tea and cakes session as well as a weekly toddlers and carers group called “Little Butterflies”, as well as activities days during the school summer holiday.
Accredited as a Local Preacher in 2007 she has led a variety of services including Café Church and Messy Church. Janet together with her husband John, and son Jonathan run a DVD Ministry set up during Covid to address the needs of people who for one reason or another are unable to attend worship regularly and do not have access to the internet. A recorded service twice a month is transferred to the DVD, with a small group of people singing the hymns which now serves as a resource to draw from.
