Katy Brookes-Duncan
Community Lay Worker for Christchurch
Katy moved to Shepshed in 2017 and lives with Oscar, a 14 year old rescue mutt with a lot to say for himself. A town planning graduate of Birmingham Poly, she spent over 20 years working in different government departments in Westminster. After taking voluntary redundancy in 2012 Katy has worked in a very wide variety of roles including on a factory production line, doctors’ receptionist, seaside café manager, Maths and English tutor and three stints in Greek refugee camps managing medical projects. Katy is life-long Methodist for three key reasons: the Covenant Service; the Quadrilateral; and the emphasis on social action. She is training to be a local preacher. Her latest hobby is crocheting, having learnt by trial and error watching YouTube videos.
